Civic Forums offer a new model of civic collaboration for a networked approach for economic and community development.

Civic Forums begin by building open economic networks to catalyze innovation and entrepreneurship. The civic forum process encourages new civic collaborations by behaving in ways that build trust, respect and accountability.

I-Open promotes civic behaviors that overcome fragmentation by focusing on shared interests, transformative business enterprise opportunities and pragmatic "next steps".

Joshua Dysart, American Writer of Graphic Novels and Comic Books, shares an account of his life exploration seeking harmony, creative and aesthetic integration, and ultimately, a connection to one human global society.

Josh talks about how the maturation of our personal experiences in technology and creativity can power relevance and meaning by planting seeds for a better future, and set the stage for global collaboration.

Dysart spent a month in the tribal war zone of Uganda for his work - a treatment of The Unkown Soldier for Vertigo Comics and has earned a nod from the Eisner Award committee as a contender for Best New Comic.

Comics: Storytelling for Cultural Imperatives

American comic book writer, Joshua Dysart, asks for a strong, intelligent, diverse global debate on the individual vs. the collective - to address humanity's integration with each other and the natural environment.

Josh's use of art, metaphor, and dialogue brings storytelling to a new level. Stories once limited to single dimensional reporting are shared now as mature art forms brought to life by sophisticated digital platforms connecting audiences everywhere. New levels of aesthetic integration enhance our ability to share as one global voice, one world.

Josh is known for dark themes, humanist horror and a fascination with the roots of violence. He has created work for DC Comics, Vertigo Comics, Dark Horse Comics, Image Comics and worked on high profile projects like Van Helsing, Swamp Thing, and Hellboy (with Mike Mignola).

Pass It On: Lessons In Giving

David Deming, Sculptor and past President of the Cleveland Institute of Art, shares stories of passing it on - sharing life's gifts that come to those who create work woven with wisdom, hope, caring, and compassion. As an educator, David's philosophy is to expose people to the power of creativity.

David describes a personal story of unexpected generosity that helped shape his career. As a practicing artist and well-known sculptor of busts and contemporary figures, he's made social connections to people whom he might not ordinarily have met through his work.

This is in a large part because of his interest in connecting with people and a preference to have his art lived with - in someone's home or yard - rather than confined to the isolation of an artist's studio.

Dr. Thomas J Allen, Margaret MacVicar Faculty Fellow, Howard W. Johnson Professor of Management, Emeritus, MIT Sloan School of Management, talks about his seminal research documenting  the value of companies and people working in close proximity to nurture innovation.

Tom Allen's work formulated the idea of the "Allen Curve" - a simple understanding that the closer people and companies are located the more cross-fertilization of ideas, network building, talent exchange, and enterprise results.

His research supports the success stories of the Youngstown Business Incubator, Youngstown, Ohio and the Charleston Digital Corridor, Charleston, South Carolina. Regions that prioritize investment in Quality, Connected Places - will be cool destinations where people, creativity and companies thrive!
